How to manage assets in Logseq?
- •
On this page,
assetdoesn't refer to external files in the broad sense. It's used specifically to refer to a particular type of node. - •
Asset node
- •
Asset: A term referring to a special type of node in Logseq. Asset nodes are tagged with the existing built-in tag (whose label is not displayed on nodes)
#Asset, so these nodes can be viewed on the#Assetpage. - •
- •
Image and PDF files support built-in rendering, so the files themselves can be displayed directly within Logseq.
- •
- •
How to create an asset node
- •
An asset node can be created in the following ways:
- 1.
Drag and drop
- 2.
Using the
/Upload an assetcommand to upload a file - 3.
Clicking the
+ Newbutton on the#Assetpage - 4.
Clicking the
Add assetsbutton in an Asset-type property
- •
Asset nodes created using methods 3 and 4 are uploaded to the
#Assetpage
- 1.
- •
When an asset node is created using one of these methods, the selected file is copied to the
assetsfolder within the graph folder. - •
The actual filename is then changed to the UUID of the asset node, while the original filename is used as the name of the asset node.
- •
Therefore, all files associated with assets are located in the
assetsfolder.
- •
- •
How to reference an asset node
- •
Since an asset node is a node, it has a UUID.
- •
Just like with any other node, it can be referenced by entering its UUID as
[[UUID]]. - •
Alternatively, it can be referenced using
[[the name of the asset node]]. - •
When an asset is referenced in this way, files that support rendering will be rendered in exactly the same way.
